Chapter 45 : A New Beginning

Vivaan’s POV

I felt my senses go numb as I saw Roohi faint in my arms. My heart clenched, a fear so raw gripping me that I could barely think straight. “Roohi?” My voice came out strangled, but she didn’t respond. I scooped her up, my hands trembling as I carried her to the car.

“Aryan, drive,” I said, my voice firmer than I felt.

Aryan nodded, sensing the urgency. I called Meera on the way, telling her to stay with Dadi. My mind was spinning—was she okay? Had she been overworking herself? Was it something I missed? The hospital walls felt suffocating as I paced outside the doctor’s office. Minutes stretched endlessly until the doctor finally emerged.

“She’s awake,” he said. Relief crashed over me so hard I nearly staggered. “You can meet her now. But I’d like you both to come to my cabin afterward.”

I didn’t need to be told twice. I rushed inside and saw Roohi sitting up on the hospital bed, her eyes searching for me. The moment our gazes met, I crossed the room in three long strides and cupped her face.

“Roohi…” My voice wavered. I pressed a kiss to her forehead, lingering. “You scared me.”

Her hand found mine, squeezing gently. “I’m okay, Vivaan,” she whispered, giving me a soft smile.

I exhaled, feeling the tension in my chest ease just a little. Aryan stepped in behind me, his concern evident, but he gave us a moment before saying, “The doctor wants to see you both.”

With a nod, I helped Roohi up, my hand never leaving hers as we walked to the doctor’s cabin.

The doctor gestured for us to sit before looking at us with a smile. “Mr. Chaturvedi, Mrs. Chaturvedi… congratulations. You’re going to be parents.”

The words hung in the air for a moment, their weight sinking in. My breath hitched. Parents?

Roohi gasped softly beside me, her grip on my hand tightening. “I… I’m pregnant?” she murmured, her voice laced with disbelief and wonder.

The doctor nodded. “Yes. She fainted due to a slight drop in blood pressure, but it’s nothing to worry about. Just make sure she eats well and gets enough rest.”

I turned to Roohi, my heart hammering against my ribs. Her eyes were already glistening, her lips parted in shock. I lifted her hands to my lips, pressing a lingering kiss against her fingers.

“Roohi…” I breathed, emotions swirling within me—joy, awe, disbelief. “We’re having a baby.”

A tear slipped down her cheek, but she was smiling. “We are.”

I pulled her into a careful hug, my arms wrapping around her securely. A part of me still couldn’t believe it. This woman—this incredible, strong, beautiful woman—was carrying our child.

Aryan let out a chuckle. “Looks like I’ll be an uncle soon.”

Roohi laughed softly, wiping her tears. “Yes, you will.”

I turned to the doctor, my voice steady but filled with sincerity. “Thank you, doctor.”

She nodded. “Take care of her, Mr. Chaturvedi. She’ll need you now more than ever.”

I looked at Roohi again, my heart swelling with love. “Always,” I promised.

As we stepped out of the hospital, the world around us seemed different—brighter, fuller. I placed a hand gently on Roohi’s stomach, my voice filled with wonder.

“There’s a little life inside you,” I murmured.

She smiled, resting her hand over mine. “Our little life.”

And in that moment, nothing else mattered.

The ride back home was quiet, yet the air between us was thick with emotions—happiness, excitement, and a hint of nervousness. My fingers were intertwined with Vivaan’s, his grip firm yet gentle, as if silently promising to always be there.

I turned to look at him, and there it was—a soft, lingering smile on his lips. A smile that held a world of emotions, unspoken yet deeply felt.

"Why are you smiling like that?" I asked, nudging him slightly.

He glanced at me, his gaze full of something so tender that it made my heart melt. "Nothing," he said, shaking his head slightly.

"Vivaan…" I narrowed my eyes, trying to read his face.

He let out a small chuckle. "It's just… I never thought happiness could feel this real. You, me… and now, our baby. It still feels like a dream."

Tears pricked my eyes. This man—who once kept his emotions locked away—was now opening up, allowing himself to feel, to dream, to hope.

I squeezed his hand. "It’s not a dream, Vivaan. We are going to have a baby. We are going to be parents."

His eyes softened, his thumb gently caressing the back of my hand. "You have no idea how much I love you, Roohi."

As we reached home, Dadi and Meera were already waiting at the door, worry etched on their faces. The moment I stepped out, Dadi rushed toward me.

"Are you okay, beta? We were so worried when you fainted!" she said, holding my face between her wrinkled hands.

I smiled, holding her hands reassuringly. "I'm perfectly fine, Dadi. In fact… we have some good news."

Meera’s eyes widened as she looked between me and Vivaan. "Good news?"

Vivaan, standing beside me, let out a small breath and then said, "We’re having a baby."

For a second, there was only silence. And then—joy. Pure, unfiltered joy.

Dadi’s eyes welled up with tears as she pulled me into a warm embrace. "Oh, my child… you have made this home complete!"

Meera, unable to contain her happiness, hugged both of us. "Bhai! Roohi! I’m going to be a bua? This is the best news ever!"

Vivaan stood beside me, his eyes reflecting nothing but love and contentment. As everyone celebrated, I glanced at him. He had come so far—from a man who shut the world out to a man who was now embracing happiness, love, and family.

And as I felt his fingers interlock with mine once again, I knew—this was just the beginning of a beautiful new chapter in our lives.

Here’s a heartwarming continuation of the chapter with natural dialogue and emotions in Roohi’s POV:

As we stepped into our room after dinner, a comfortable silence settled between us. The warmth of home, of us, wrapped around me like a soft embrace. Vivaan had been quiet, thoughtful even, and I knew something was on his mind.

I was about to ask when he suddenly spoke, his voice gentle yet uncertain.

"Roohi, we never really spoke about having a baby earlier…" He paused for a moment, as if choosing his words carefully. "Are you really fine with it now?"

I turned to look at him, seeing the hesitation in his eyes. It wasn’t doubt—no, it was something else. Maybe he wanted to be sure, maybe he was still in disbelief that we were finally here, together, at this moment.

I smiled softly, stepping closer and taking his hands in mine. "Vivaan," I said, my voice full of warmth, "I am more than happy to be a mother now. With you… I know our child will be loved beyond measure."

His eyes softened, a quiet relief washing over his face. He lifted my hand to his lips, pressing a lingering kiss to my knuckles. "I just... I wanted to be sure, Roohi. I don’t ever want you to feel like this is something you have to do for me. It has to be something you want, truly want."

I cupped his face gently, my fingers brushing over the faint stubble on his jaw. "I do, Vivaan. I really do. It’s not just about becoming a mother—it’s about us… our family, our love. And I know that with you, this journey will be the most beautiful one."

He exhaled, as if letting go of a weight he had been carrying. And then, for the first time in a long while, I saw something in his eyes—pure, unfiltered joy.

Vivaan pulled me into his arms, holding me close, his chin resting on my head. "You have no idea how much this means to me, Roohi," he murmured.

I smiled against his chest, my heart brimming with love. "Then let’s make every moment count."

That night, as we lay in bed, his fingers intertwined with mine, I knew—this was it. This was home. This was love. And soon, this love would grow into something even more beautiful.

A family.
