The warmth of home had never felt this complete before. For the first time in years, Vivaan, Aryan, and Meera sat together, talking, laughing, and sharing stories. Roohi watched them with a soft smile, her heart swelling with happiness. Seeing them like this- Vivaan, who had carried the weight of the past alone for so long, Aryan, who had finally found his family again, and Meera, who had longed for the presence of her brothers - felt like witnessing the pieces of a shattered painting coming together beautifully.
Dadi looked at them with misty eyes, her frail hands clasped together as if in silent prayer. After dinner, when everyone had retired for the night, she held Roohi’s hand gently.
"Beta, I don’t have words to thank you. You gave my Vivaan his family back. You gave me my grandsons together again."
Roohi squeezed her hand, her voice soft yet firm. "Dadi, I didn’t do anything extraordinary. They were meant to find their way back to each other. I just… I just helped a little."
Dadi cupped her cheek affectionately. "You are the blessing this family never knew it needed. Thank you, Roohi."
With a small nod and a warm hug, Roohi helped her to her room before making her way to hers and Vivaan’s. The door creaked slightly as she entered, the dim lighting casting a golden glow inside.
Vivaan was standing near the window, gazing outside. His back was to her, his hands resting on the sill. Something about his posture told her he was lost in thought. She stepped closer, wrapping her arms around him from behind, pressing her cheek against his shoulder.
"You’re quiet," she murmured.
Vivaan turned around, his dark eyes holding a depth of emotions she had come to understand well. Without a word, he pulled her into his embrace, holding her tightly as if grounding himself in her presence.
"Thank you, Roohi," he whispered, his voice barely above a breath.
She pulled back slightly, looking up at him. "For what?"
"For bringing him back. For bringing me back. For giving me this… this peace I never thought I’d have again." His fingers gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, his touch lingering as his gaze softened. "I didn't know I could feel this whole again."
Roohi’s heart clenched at the raw honesty in his words. She cupped his face, her thumbs brushing over his cheekbones. "You were never broken, Vivaan. You just needed someone to remind you that you didn’t have to carry everything alone."
He exhaled shakily, leaning into her touch. "I love you, Roohi," he admitted, his voice unguarded, vulnerable.
Her breath caught, warmth flooding her chest. "I love you too, Vivaan."
The moment stretched between them, unspoken emotions filling the space. Slowly, he leaned in, capturing her lips in a soft, lingering kiss. It wasn’t rushed or desperate—it was full of everything they felt but never needed to say out loud. A silent promise.
When they pulled away, his forehead rested against hers. "Stay with me," he murmured.
Roohi smiled, her fingers intertwining with his. "Always."
The night stretched ahead of them, wrapped in love, in the quiet whispers of a new beginning - one where Vivaan was no longer alone, where he had a family, a love that held him together, and a future that felt just right.
