Chapter 19: Her Question

Pranay's POV

After two long days away for work, I finally returned home, exhausted but eager to see Aishu. The moment I stepped inside, I barely had time to drop my bag before she rushed toward me and wrapped her arms around me.

"I missed you so much, Pranu," she murmured, her voice filled with warmth.

A smile tugged at my lips as I hugged her back. "I missed you too, Aishu."

She pulled away and looked up at me with that soft, affectionate gaze. "Go refresh yourself. We'll have dinner together."

I nodded, feeling warmth spread in my chest at how she had started calling this place home.

After freshening up, we sat down for dinner. She eagerly shared everything she had done in the past two days - her classes, her friends, how she finally learned how to adjust the camera settings manually. I listened with amusement as she animatedly described her experiences, her eyes shining.

When she paused, I took my turn, telling her about the wedding shoot, the couple's chemistry, and the challenging but rewarding moments.

Everything was going smoothly - until she suddenly looked at me seriously and said, "Pranu, I have a doubt."

I raised a brow, teasingly puffing my chest. "Anything related to photography, I'll solve it with pride."

She shook her head. "Not photography... Something else."

I blinked. "What is it?"

She hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath. "I... read a book."

I nodded. "That's good."

"The hero was just like you, Pranu. He cared for the heroine so much. I really liked it."

A small chuckle escaped me. "I'm flattered."

"But..." She bit her lip. "Then there was... something weird."

I stilled. "Weird?"

She nodded. "There was a part... where the leads did something... I didn't understand it fully, but it was strange."

I frowned slightly, unsure where this was going. "Okay...?"

She then looked at me with innocent, wide eyes. "Those are just the writer's weird imagination, right, Pranu?"

My heart dropped.

Before I could say anything, she continued, "But if that's just imagination... then how are babies born?"

I froze.

A red hue spread across my face as my mind struggled to process her question.

I was at a complete loss for words.

Oh, my dear, innocent Aishu...

I cleared my throat. "Aishu... that part in the book is true."

Her eyes widened in horror. "What?"

I nodded slowly, feeling my face burn. "It's... not just for babies but It's also for... pleasure."

She looked at me as if I had just told her the earth was square. Her breathing hitched, and I could see the shock settle deep in her expression.

I immediately regretted being so blunt.

She blinked rapidly, her lips parting slightly as she tried to process my words.

Then, in a small voice, she asked, "Is that why... you told me you wouldn't force yourself on me on our wedding night?"

My heart clenched.

I nodded. "Yes, Aishu."

She lowered her gaze, her fingers gripping the edge of the table.

I reached out and gently placed my hand over hers. "We won't do anything unless you're comfortable. And not until you complete your UG degree."

She looked up at me, her eyes searching mine, still processing everything.

I gave her a reassuring smile. "Don't overthink it, Aishu. It's just a part of life, and you don't need to worry about it now."

She nodded slowly, still looking a little dazed.

I squeezed her hand. "Eat your food. You've already overworked your mind today."

She let out a small, nervous laugh and nodded.

As we continued our meal in comfortable silence, I couldn't help but smile.

This innocent, curious girl... was my wife. And I would protect that innocence for as long as she needed me to.
