"It's not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving."
Roohi pov:
I woke up feeling the warmth of Vivaan's arms around me. My head rested against his chest, rising and falling with each breath he took. His arm was draped protectively around me, and his fingers had loosely intertwined with mine sometime in the night. A small smile crept onto my face as I realized how safe, how utterly content, I felt in this moment.
I tilted my head slightly, taking a closer look at his face. The soft light from the window highlighted his features - the faint stubble on his jawline, the curve of his lips, and the calmness etched on his usually intense face. He looked so peaceful, and I couldn’t help but think how lucky I was.
How can someone care so much and yet be so unaware of the love they deserve?
Not wanting to wake him, I carefully slipped out of his embrace, though my heart ached just a little at the loss of contact. I made my way to the dresser and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. My cheeks flushed slightly as I thought of how he always found ways to make me feel cherished.
As I stretched, I remembered the email from last night. I’d been so caught up in settling back in and spending time with Vivaan that I hadn’t checked it properly. I opened my phone and groaned softly. I was required to be in the office today. Great timing, Roohi, I thought, rushing to get ready.
I quickly showered and dressed in a simple yet professional outfit. There wasn’t much time to prepare anything elaborate for breakfast, so I decided on something quick - toast, eggs, and a fresh fruit salad.Being with vivaan have learnt a few simple dishes from him. As I set everything on the table, I glanced back toward the bedroom. Vivaan was still asleep, and I hesitated for a moment.
Should I wake him? I thought, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. He looked so peaceful, so untroubled. Instead, I jotted down a note and left it on the dining table.
"Vivaan, I have to go to the office today. I’ve prepared breakfast for you - please don’t skip it! I’ll see you in the evening. Take care."
Before leaving, I quietly peeked into the room one last time, moved towards him and placed a kiss on his forehead, my heart swelling at the sight of him sleeping so serenely.
As I stepped into the office, a sense of familiarity wrapped around me like a warm hug. The soft murmur of voices, the rhythmic tapping of keys, it felt like coming home after a long time.
I made my way to my cabin, and took a deep breath, feeling a sense of peace settle within me. As I sat down at my desk and began my work, couldn’t help but smile, feeling truly at ease.
Midway through the day, I was called into my CEO’s office.
“Roohi,” he greeted with a smile, his eyes warm. “Come in, my dear. I hope everything’s been going well.”
I smiled back. He was like a father to me, always looking out for me, and I admired him so much.
“I’m doing well, sir. Thank you for asking,” I said as I took a seat across from him.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t attend your wedding,” he began, his voice tinged with regret. “My wife wasn’t feeling well, and I couldn’t leave her. But I have something for you.”
He reached into his desk drawer and pulled out a small, velvet box, handing it to me with a smile. I blinked in surprise.
“Sir, you didn’t have to…” I started, but he waved me off gently.
“Will my daughter refuse a gift from her father?” he said, his voice warm and fatherly.
I was taken aback by his words. A lump formed in my throat. How could I possibly refuse when he said it like that?
“No sir, I won’t,” I whispered, my voice soft with emotion. “Thank you, sir. This means a lot to me.”
“Good,” he said, smiling again. “Now, Vivaan and you must come over for dinner sometime soon. I insist.”
I nodded, feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude. “We’d sir.”
After a few more discussions, I left his office, my heart full of warmth. It wasn’t just the gift, but his kindness, his genuine care. It made me feel like I truly belonged here.
By the end of the day, my to-do list was cleared, and I was ready to head home. As I left the office, I remembered that I needed a new mouse. Stopping by a nearby mall, I found the electronics store and quickly picked one out.
As I was about to leave, a men’s clothing store caught my eye. My thoughts wandered to Vivaan. He always looked so comfortable in hoodies and he always loved to wear them, but I’d noticed he only had a few. Why not get him something nice?
The store was packed with options, and I found myself spending almost an hour poring over different styles, colors, and designs. Every time I picked one up, I imagined how Vivaan would look in it. This blue one will bring out his eyes. And this grey one ,he’d love the simplicity.
By the time I left, I had bought eight hoodies and a few matching pairs of pants. As I headed home, my heart was lighter than ever.
As I walked back to my car, the bags in my hands, my mind raced with thoughts of him. What would he say when he saw them? Would he be surprised? I couldn’t wait to get home and give them to him.
I hope he likes them, I thought, smiling to myself. And I can’t wait to see his reaction.
I smiled to myself, feeling a warmth in my chest as I thought about how deeply fulfilling it was to pamper him, to care for him in ways I never thought I'd be able to.
Vivaan's pov:
I woke up to an empty bed. The space beside me was cold, and for a moment, I felt an ache in my chest. Roohi wasn’t there. My eyes lingered on the empty pillow where she usually lay, and the quietness felt a little too loud without her.
I got up and refreshed myself, but something caught my eye on the bedside table - a note, handwritten by her, with a delicate scrawl I’d come to cherish.
"Vivaan, I have to go to the office today. I’ve prepared breakfast for you, please don’t skip it! I’ll see you in the evening. Take care."
A soft smile tugged at my lips. I couldn’t help but think of how thoughtful she was. I’d never really experienced this level of care before, and it made my heart feel light.
After eating the breakfast she’d left for me, I washed the dishes, feeling a sense of contentment in the simplicity of it all. She had thought of everything. As I was finishing up, I noticed a package outside the door , it was the working table I had ordered for her.
Roohi had been working from home for a while now, and I noticed how uncomfortable she seemed, always perched on the couch for hours on end. I didn’t like it. She deserved something better, a space that felt like hers, where she could work in comfort.
I had noticed how she’d try to make do, but I couldn’t help but think there had to be something better, something that would make her feel more at ease. I’d tried finding a suitable chair online, but nothing quite felt right, so I decided to visit a furniture shop.
After an hour of searching, I finally found the perfect chair. Soft, comfortable, and just the right kind of support. I bought it without a second thought, knowing it would make her workdays a little more pleasant.
As I walked back to car, I remembered that the groceries were getting low, so I made a quick stop to stock up on essentials. The weight of the bags was a small reminder of all the little things I wanted to do for her.
I was eager to set up the workspace for Roohi.
When I got home, I began thinking about where I could set up her new workspace. The room next to my studio had always been there, unused, and I thought it would be the perfect spot. I started cleaning, organizing, and setting up the new table and chair.
I wanted it to feel special for her, so I decided to add a few personal touches. I grabbed a few of my paints and brushes and started working on a small wall painting. I didn’t know if it would be the right atmosphere, but I hoped it would make the space feel warm and welcoming.
As I stepped back and surveyed the room, I couldn’t help but feel a flutter of anticipation. I was eager to see her reaction , how would she feel when she saw it? Would she like it?
I smiled to myself, lost in the thought of her bright smile, and then remembered the paintings I had left unfinished in my studio. I couldn’t wait to get back to them. But first, I had to finish this for her. It was all worth it, the little things, the small surprises. It was for her.
Then, with a soft smile, I returned to my studio to finish the paintings that had been waiting for my attention.
